Adamant has been involved in the world of purebred dogs since 1990, starting first with English bulldogs . In 2018, we decided to make a change to Löwchen and help support preservation efforts for this rare, wonderful small breed. As preservation breeders, their focus has always been, and always will remain, to promote responsible ownership and stewardship of our chosen breed through outreach, education and assistance in introducing new people to the Löwchen as well as all the ways families and individuals can realize the wonderful partnership that can blossom with their dog.

C.Hardt Löwchen

The story behind C.Hardt Löwchen is like a nesting doll. Co-breeder and youngest daughter Oonagh wanted a kennel name that started with C, to forever honor CC as our first Löwchen. Oonagh’s middle name, Muirgen, means “born of the sea”. So C is for CC and also pronounced “sea”. We had already chosen this kennel name, and then by lucky and serendipity, moved about three blocks from the Pacific Ocean. So our puppies are born and raised within sight of the water, and the kennel name has become even more meaningful. The Löwchen Club of America was founded by Charles and Jane Cook and Robert and Carol Yhlen. Originally named the Little Lion Dog Club of America, the club’s initial mission was to create and maintain a breed registry for the Löwchen in the United States.
